Dr. John Blattner, DMD,
MAGD
 Dr.
Blattner grew up in Venice and Granite City, IL. He attended Illinois State
University, and graduated from Southern Illinois University Dental School in
1978. He attended a general practice residency at John Cochron Medical
Center in St. Louis for one year. In 1998, Dr. Blattner was awarded a
Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry, a prestigious award received
by only the most skilled dentists in the world.
Dr.
Blattner enjoys doing all phases of general dentistry, especially braces,
bleaching, and cosmetic veneers or crowns.
Dr.
Blattner, committed to continuing education, recently attended four
conferences and one dental convention in Missouri. He learned about root
canal advances at the St. Louis University Dental Postgraduate Facility, and
bleaching and cosmetic Lumineers to make over your smile at a DenMat two day
program in July. Afterwards, Smiles R Forever purchased a blue sapphire
light to whiten teeth ten shades in one hour.
In
September 2005 at the Mid Continental Dental Congress, Dr. Blattner learned
about comprehensive quality care the Pankey Institute way and also about
fitness.
Dr.
Blattner and his staff recently attended several additional continuing
education classes. In May 2006, Dr. Blattner and assistants Sherry Boda and
Suzy Heavner attended an Illinois State Dental Seminar on enhancing
communication and quality care for the patient, presented by Debra Castagua.
Also in May, Dr. Blattner attended a Perio Protect seminar; he is lifetime
certified to provide Perio Protect Therapy, the only FDA-approved clear oral
appliance to treat gum disease. He is seeing vast improvements in his
patients' gum conditions with Perio Protect Therapy.
On
September 14 and 15, 2006, Dr. Blattner and his team attended the Mid
Continent Dental Congress's seminars on approachability and dental
materials.
 Recently
Dr. Blattner was accepted into the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
(AACD). The AACD is an international organization of dentists who focus
their practice on cosmetic dentistry, which includes braces, Invisaligners,
bonding white fillings, porcelain veneers and crowns, bleaching, and smile
makeovers similar to those seen on TV's Extreme Makeover.
"With today's new technologies which are at our office," Dr. Blattner says,
"it is truly amazing how anyone can have a beautiful smile."
During off hours, Dr. Blattner cares for his children Angela, Michael, and
Sarah, and spends time with his wife Kathy. He also loves sports, hunting,
fishing, baseball, and basketball.
