Toothprint Dental ID System for Children
In the unfortunate
event of a missing child, timing can be crucial. Chances for safe return
drastically decrease after the first twenty-four hours of absence, making
every second count. While most patients would not normally think of their
dentist in such a time of crisis, a new dental identification product is
changing the role of dentistry outside of the office while proving a
powerful tool in reuniting loved ones.
Toothprints,
recommended for children ages fourteen and younger, is a thermoplastic wafer
that softens in hot water and records children's individual tooth
characteristics, tooth position within the arch, and the upper-to-lower jaw
relationship - all important information for identification. An unrinsed
Toothprints also captures saliva, a powerful source of human scent and a
useful aid to scent-dog tracking. In addition, sufficient saliva proteins
remain from which DNA can be garnered for another means of identification.
Our offices offer
Toothprints for children ages fourteen and younger on a complimentary basis
to new patients and at the nominal fee of five dollars to current patients.
Parents retain their child's Toothprints record themselves for
confidentiality and quick access.
Prevention truly is
the greatest deterrent to tragedy. Toothprints empowers both parents and
children, providing a useful reference in the unfortunate event of tragedy.
Giving the Environment a Helping Hand
For many months now,
our offices have implemented stringent recycling programs as a part of our
dedicated efforts toward environmental preservation. In addition to
traditional paper recycling, many disposable dental office items are also
salvaged:
Newspapers,
magazines, cardboard, and shredded paper are recycled.
Jugs, bottles, and
appropriate plastics are recycled.
Aluminum cans, as
well as x-ray foils, are recycled.
By doing our part, we
hope to keep the environment as fresh and vibrant as ever. In short, we hope
it's always something worth smiling about.
